Manhattan Style Circuit Prototyping

Some time ago, I read about Manhattan Building Techniques on the Make: Blog. I came across it again today, and figured I would save it here for anyone who might need to do circuit prototyping and keep the layout clean and easy to troubleshoot.

This time I came across it by reading about how to make a homopolar motor. In the comments about it, a reference was given to μblog: engineering from the trenches, that has an explanation of how it works. So, I have Nick Chernyy and his post on how to prototype circuits cleanly (Manhattan style) to thank for this reminder of the building method.
